Linda Blair

Linda Linda LindaLinda Blair was five years old when she was the first child actress to be cast in The Exorcist. She had previously worked as a model over three years prior to her role as the child possessed, Regan. Linda quickly rose to worldwide fame, was awarded the Golden Globe, and seemed likely to receive an Academy Award for that role However, after it was revealed how some parts of the character weren't performed by her (the vocals of the demon were dubbed by Mercedes McCambridge, and eight seconds of a stunt model were employed) this dream fell apart and, with it, was probably the initial blow towards what appeared to be the beginning of an A-list career. It was her turn to get leads in a wide range of movies, including Born Innocent (#1 TV film in 1974) as well as Sarah T. - Portrait of the Teenage Alcoholic(1975) as well as the Exorcist II sequel Exorcist II : The Heretic. When she was pressured by peers to buying cocaine at the age of 18, this led to an arrest and subsequent sentencing to probation for three years. This highly-publicized drug bust led Linda to be blacklisted in Hollywood which slowed her progress. Her career was soon reduced to B-movies and occasional television guest appearances only
